CIES Director, Professor Brian Uy elected a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
CIES director Professor Brian Uy has been elected a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
The American Society of Civil Engineers represents more than 150,000 members of the civil engineering profession in 177 countries and was founded in 1852. ASCE Fellows have made celebrated contributions and developed creative solutions that change lives around the world. It is a prestigious honour held by fewer than 3.5% of ASCE members. There is no direct admission to the grade of Fellow. Fellow status must be attained by professional accomplishments via application and election by the Membership Application Review Committee (MARC).
Brian has been a member of ASCE and a Chartered Member of the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of ASCE since 1996. Brian’s ASCE roles have included serving as Co-Chairman of the Composite Construction in Steel and Concrete VII Conference, held in Cairns, Australia in 2013, sponsored by the ASCE-SEI. He has also served on the Scientific Committee for the Composite Construction in Steel and Concrete VI Conference, held in Colorado in 2008, sponsored by the ASCE/SEI and will serve on the Organizing Committee for the Composite Construction in Steel and Concrete VIII Conference, to be held in Wyoming in 2017, sponsored by the ASCE/SEI. From 2004-2006, Brian was an Associate Editor for the ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering and he has been a Member of the ASCE/SEI Committee on Composite Construction since 2003.
