CIES collaborations in Korea
Congratulations to CIES researchers for securing two Korean fellowship grants, sponsored by the National Research Foundation of Korea, Republic of Korea (Ministry Science and ICT), under the category of NRF International Mobility Program 2023.
Grants winners were:
A/Prof Jae Hong Kim (KAIST) and A/Prof Ailar Hajimohammadi (UNSW) for their project: Comparative study on the performance and construction specification of low-carbon concrete.
Dr Haemin Song (UNSW) and Dr Taehwan Kim (UNSW): Development of integrated porosity evaluation method for eco-friendly hempcrete using hybrid pore fractionation and 3D porosity analysis technique.
The fellowship provided A/Prof Hajimohammadi with the opportunity to visit colleagues at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) University. “During my time there,” she said, “I had the privilege of meeting A/Prof Jae Hong Kim and his esteemed research group. “
A/Prof’s Kim’s research group for concrete structures and materials in KAIST investigates performance based design and specification; construction performance related to fluidity and workability; and economic and environmental merits. Ailar presented to the KAIST group on the innovative work also being done at CIES.
“It was an honour to exchange ideas and insights with such brilliant minds in the field,” she said. “Also, it was fantastic to reconnect with CIES Dr. Taehwan Kim, currently pursuing a special study at KAIST. I look forward to fostering future collaborations.”
